About Us

EAPDD was incorporated as a non-profit, regional planning and development agency in 1967, serving a 12 county area of northeast Arkansas. With a land area as large as the state of New Jersey, the District stretches from the Missouri State line to the north, through the Memphis metropolitan area, to the southern end of Crowley’s Ridge at Helena. The essential nature of this corner of Arkansas is predominantly defined by Mississippi River Delta, which runs the length of the District’s eastern boundary.

The District’s purpose is to promote and support the economic development of the region. It does this by providing technical assistance to the cities, counties, businesses, and other development organizations in the area, and by networking extensively with state and federal resource agencies. EAPDD is actively engaged in:

  • community development - grant and loan grant application assistance, grants management services, provision of U.S. Census data
  • community planning - computer mapping applications, land use planning, development of zoning and subdivision regulations, and annexation studies
  • waste management - recycling, waste tire management, hauler licensing, and educational programs
  • business development - business development loans
