East
Arkansas Waste Tire District
How the Program Works
Each
solid waste management district is required to undertake programs to identify
illegal tire dumping sites, and operate a waste tire disposal system.
In order to meet this mandate, three of the districts in the area (Northeast,
Mississippi County, and East Arkansas) created the East Arkansas Waste
Tire District (EAWTD). EAPDD staff provides the management support to
operate this program, which covers 11 of the 12 EAPDD counties. The map
displays the locations of county collection centers and the disposal/processing
facility.
The
EAWTD is responsible for the abatement of all existing illegal tire dumps
located within the District. All citations and legal action against violators
are the responsibility of the Arkansas
Department of Pollution Control & Ecology (ADPC&E).
The EAWTD is required to collect and dispose of fee paid tires within
the 11 county service area at no charge.
Manifest forms are required to dispose of any tire in the EAWTD. The
District provides the manifest forms, and only original copies will be
accepted at the collection centers. Forms are available and can be picked
up at any of the collection centers, or by calling the District office.
All tires brought to collection centers for which a fee has not been
previously paid based on tax reporting forms provided to the Arkansas
Department of Finance & Administration (ADF&A) will be
assessed a fee for disposal. Fees charged are as follows:
Passenger Car and Light Truck tires: $1.75 each
Semi-Truck tires: $5.00 each
Large Farm Implement and Off-Road tires: $26.00 each
Non Four Wheel Drive Front Tractor tires: $5.00 each
Four Wheeler and Lawnmower tires: $1.75 each
EAPDD is an associate member of the Rubber
Pavements Association. Information on the use of waste tires for paving
applications in the United States can be found by contacting the Rubber
Pavements Association in Tempe, Arizona.
